Starlink Satellite Setup Guide

Welcome to Starlink, a revolutionary satellite internet service that brings high-speed, low-latency internet access to even the most remote locations. This setup guide will walk you through the process of installing and configuring your Starlink satellite dish and router to ensure a seamless internet experience.

Before you begin

  1. Ensure you have received the Starlink kit, including the satellite dish, mounting tripod, router, and associated cables.
  2. Identify a suitable location for the satellite dish with a clear view of the sky, free from obstructions like trees and buildings.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the contents of the kit and read the user manual provided.

Step 1: Satellite dish installation

  1. Assemble the mounting tripod according to the instructions provided.
  2. Place the tripod in the chosen location, ensuring it is level and stable.
  3. Attach the satellite dish to the mounting arm securely.
  4. Point the dish towards the northern sky (in the Northern Hemisphere) or the southern sky (in the Southern Hemisphere). Use a compass for accuracy.
  5. Adjust the dish elevation and azimuth angles based on the recommended values provided in the user manual or the Starlink app.

Step 2: Cable connection

  1. Connect the provided PoE (Power over Ethernet) adapter to the power port on the back of the router.
  2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the PoE adapter, and the other end to the WAN (wide area network) port on the router.
  3. Connect the power adapter to a power source and plug it into the router.
  4. Connect your computer or other devices to the router using Ethernet cables or via Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Power on and set up router

  1. Power on the satellite dish by connecting it to the PoE adapter.
  2. Allow the dish a few minutes to establish a connection with the Starlink satellites.
  3. Power on the router and wait for it to initialize.
  4. Connect to the router's Wi-Fi network or use the Ethernet ports for a wired connection.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions on the router interface or use the Starlink app to complete the setup process.

Step 4: Network configuration

  1. Access the router settings through a web browser by entering the router's IP address (typically 192.168.0.1) into the address bar.
  2. Follow the prompts to configure your network settings, including Wi-Fi name and password.
  3. Optionally, customize advanced settings based on your preferences.

Step 5: Final checks

  1. Ensure all cables are securely connected.
  2. Check the router and satellite dish for any status indicators to confirm a successful connection.
  3. Run a speed test using the Starlink app or other online tools to verify your internet speed and reliability.

Congratulations! You've successfully set up your Starlink satellite internet system. Enjoy the benefits of high-speed internet access, even in remote areas. If you encounter any issues, refer to the user manual or contact Starlink customer support for assistance.
